We've been going to Complexions ever since it opened in our beautiful neighborhood in Gulfport's Arts District.  Facials, peels, waxing, eyebrow tinting, makeup applications, skin resurfacing ... owner Bianca Cypser, at left, does it all! Oct. 25, Bianca offered to host localshops1.com's first-ever clothing swap, to benefit CASA, the shelter and advocacy group for victims of domestic violence in Pinellas County. The clothing swap was so popular, we've decided to do another one in a few months. We met lots of great people -- some of whom are pictured below and on our blog, others a bit camera-shy.

We were happy to see so many generous people come out. It was truly a community event. Friends were calling each other on their phones, telling them to come by; the courtyard in downtown Gulfport was packed -- thanks to Java Nirvana and Yummy's, for letting us use your tables and for your help turning the courtyard into a giant clothing store.

And we were touched to hear stories from domestic violence survivors, many of whom had turned to CASA for shelter after escaping their abusive relationships.

 The turnout was impressive: Probably close to 100 people came, many to swap clothes, some simply to drop off donations. We raised almost $60 from our raffle (Bianca donated a one-hour facial!) and collected enough clothes for CASA to pack more than three cars!
